In a column called "Supreme Court Rules On Habeas Corpus; Sovereign and Immune Corporations in Iraq"(July 5), political analyst Al Martin reveals that certain Bush-Cheney connected corporations doing business in Iraq have been made immune to charges of murder with respect to their contracts in Iraq.
"Paul Bremer’s last official action as provisional coalition administrator was to sign a proclamation binding on all future Iraqi governments, granting immunity from prosecution by the Iraqi government of a selected list of U.S. corporations," writes Martin.
Companies like Dick Cheney's Halliburton Corp. can use PMCs (Private Military Companies) to provide "security" in Iraq, and if PMC employees kill an Iraqi civilian, they will not be held liable for murder because the corporation is considered "sovereign and immune" from prosecution.
Here's how it works. "With the new Bremer document, what Halliburton did this afternoon is exactly what CNN legal analyst said he expects all corporations on the 117 list to do; that is, to transfer contracts already suspended for fraud; to wit, it is likely there is going to be indictments in the United States to Halliburton-Iraq, which enjoys sovereign immunity.
