(5-28-14) It looks like Obama is getting "lawyered up," as they say, choosing W. Neil Eggleston as the new White House Counsel. Eggleston was Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and has represented various politicians being investigated for corruption including Bill Clinton during the Whitewater real estate fraud, as well as Rahm Emanuel, Federico Pena, former Senator Kent Conrad, and he was also the deputy chief counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee to Investigate Covert Arms Transactions with Iran, which investigated the so-called Iran Contra Affair.
So what's the meaning of this appointment?
Eggleston may be there to make sure that Bushonian connections regarding Mena, Arkansas don't come out, so he could try to build a fence around that as much as possible.
This guy works both sides. If you're not with Steptoe & Johnson, but you're a liability control guy, whose liability are you trying to control? Who creates the political and legal liability? It's not Democrats.
