(5-27-14) Why do Republicans keep shooting themselves in the foot?
In the 2014 bi-elections, the reason they're doing it is because they don't want a complete split in the party, between the so-called Institutional Republicans -- also called the Corporate Republicans and the Tea Party Republicans, who want to distinguish themselves from the Republican "Institution."
What we saw in the most recent round of Republican primaries is that the 2014 bi-elections are going to end with the dissolution, as it were, of the Tea Party faction. Why? Because they won't be able to field any candidates.
In other words, the Koch Brothers won't be funding any more candidates. It looks like that's history, as if the decision has already been made that the Tea Party Republicans have had the effect that the so-called institutional Republicans wanted it to have in preventing wayward institutional Republicans, what remains of the moderate faction, from supporting any Democratic initiatives before the 2014 elections.
